There will be two versions.

A standard edition hardcover (listed at U.S. $12.99) and a hardcover collector's edition ($100).

Check them out at Amazon:

Cool. It comes out on my birthday. Too bad it won't be sold in my country (not according to Wikipedia, anyway). Online it is, then, I suppose.

very cool =)

apparently JK is also writing a Harry Potter prequel - but it's just 800 words. Still, I'm interested to see what it'll say.

That already happened ages ago, actually tongue.gif You can probably find a copy of it online; I read it on the site of the charity she did it for, but I have no idea if it's still there (or what the URL is)

Yeah, most online stores have international shipping, so that shouldn't be a problem; we just won't be able to buy it in a shop.

I don't think I'll bother getting the collector's edition. I mean, normally I'm all for getting the primo editions of things like this, but US$100 is a bit steep when I can get basically the same thing for like 8 bucks.

Definitely can via Amazon.com. I'm sure other online stores should do it too.

Emerin's been out of the HP loop!!!

I can't wait! I'm so freaking excited. My mom called me as soon as she saw it on the news a couple of weeks ago. I almost pissed my pants

Don't forget this is being released next Thursday, December 4th!

Here's a link to the standard edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard on Amazon.com for $7.14. And here's a link to the collectors edition which is only sold at Amazon.com and is $100.

I don't know if Amazon is the cheapest retailer for the standard edition but it's one of the most well known so I linked it.

I bought both! It's being shipped to the states to my parents house. I didn't want to have the collectors edition sent to Iraq obviously, so I got the standard as well. Can't wait to read it! It should take about a week and a half for it to get sent from home to my APO. I'm effin excited. lol

Sorry for bumping the thread but I bought the book quite a while ago in store. They're everywhere.

I quite liked some of the stories, they were really insightful and helped me waste an hour flight

I liked them. The most insightful bit certainly was Dumbledore's commentary. It's a shame he wasn't more forthcoming in the last one for a few more details about the Hallows.

Definitely agree with you! smile.gif I loved reading a bit more into the background of the whole wizarding world. It really makes me want Rowling to write Hogwarts, A History.

Yeah, I had read the actual stories online a while ago but Dumbledore's commentary really added a lot to it. I think the UK/Aus cover was pretty awesome too...the book feels like an old fairy-tale book, and even looks quite old and worn.

Maybe I'm biased but it seems way better; much less kiddy than the US cover.

And yeah I must say I was feeling a little 'milking it for all it's worth' but now I am totally up for Hogwarts a History or Encyclopaedia Potterica, whichever she does. Or both.

I like the UK cover so much more!!!!!!!!!!! It's classier. I feel like I'm holding a cheap knock-off when I'm holding the US version.

Oh man, that cover is awesome.

JKR has actually mentioned the encyclopedia so I guess that would be more likely than Hogwarts, A History Of and I'm sure the encyclopedia would be very detailed and informative (possibly more so than Hogwarts, A History Of) but geez, I want Hogwarts, A History Of just because of how many times Hermione refered to it.

Looks like we're not ready to part with the wizarding world yet, even if the HP series is over. I'm glad I'm not the only one, the demand will hopefully keep JKR interested in writing more.

And holy crap, I said Hogwarts, A History Of three times in one sentence. Ridiculous.

I was a little bit like that too but Hogwarts: A History sounds so cool, especially now that I've read the Tales and know that if she did do the encyclopedia she could do it well.
