It seems as though everywhere I go there's someone saying "man, I hate my life. I wish I could just get away from this heck hole." or "school sucks" or "he/she is such a poser". Whatever! I feel like so many kids hit one bump in the road of life and want to get out forever. Life isn't that bad....why are there so many negative people? Then again, to label me, I'd be the always Happy, goody-goody, "Jesus Freak" with no problems. That's what someone told me when I asked them why they were so upset. I do have problems, I do! I just don't go around blaming everyone and everything for them. I smile. I look on the bright side. I talk to God about my problems and he helps me out. It's not so hard!
School doesn't suck. School is what will put food on the table in your later years. I love school. All of my friends are there. I love the debates and class discussions. Not neccesarily the class meetings....
In my opinion, there is no such thing as a poser. If you decide to try something new or dress a different way, that's who you are. The whole "I hate Avril Lavigne" thing...pfft! Who said that because you dress one way, your song voice has to fit up against that stereotype? I hate that! I say that, if you want to wear all Thrift Town clothes and spikey bracelets one day and Abercrombie the next, go right ahead!! That's who you are, and that's cool to me.
In conclusion, you've just been bored to death by a very opinionated little girl. However, I'd like to hear your spiels on anything and everything...stuff that bugs you. I like to learn about stuff like that. It's just the way I am!

Bah, I wasn't bored to death! You have a very optimistic view on things, which is hard to find these days! I try to be optimistic about everything, but I can be grouchy. Very grouchy. *falls over*

I hate it also when you ask someone whats wrong and they ask you what your problem is. @_@

I don't fit into a category either. I like "preppy" clothing, the un-labeled kind, because it looks neat and classy. I like "punk" clothing because it shows imaginative-ness (? is that a word?!). I like "gothic" clothing because it's expressional. Ha! tongue.gif

If I wear something other than an old t-shirt and jeans it's usually very different. I love super long sleeves and anything that laces up.....very medieval. I'm glad I didn't bore you! And I know what you mean about getting snapped at. I don't like that either, when people are like, "How dare you be concerned about me!" you know?

You didn't bore me either! I Actually enjoyed reading it!! You have a lot of the same opinions I do. Though I do hate it when people say they hate Avril Lavigne, And then they don't even have a reason for hating her!!! They just do. Which, Doesn't really make since, But then, In a way, It does.

The way I dress is a lot different from anyone else. I Don't buy outfits from the store during the year. I Just do right before school staarts back. And most of my clothes are handed down to me or were bought from a thrift store. Which I don't mind, I Find a lot of cool stuff there!!!! It's not because were poor, It's just I'm the only girl in my family and my Mom isn't one for going clothes shopping. And I don't mind, I Like my clothes.

Pullin' out the really really old posts.....

Like the poster on my wall says: Avril Rules!!

I'm very much a sale shopper. I don't pick a certain time to go clothes shopping, I'll just find something on sale and then go from there. I rarely buy anything that costs more than $10 including jeans. I like to go to Thrift Town and get 15 things for $10. that's always a blast!
I'm having fun talking about clothes. Yay! My girly side shines through!

first of all i want to give my opinion on posers, school and avril.
i think there are such things as posers. you can't wear skater clothes one day and Abercrombie the next. you can't try to fit in with two very different groups it just doesn't work. i understand you are who you are but a skater and a prep are two very different people and you can't try to be both.
School does suck. homework sucks. teachers suck. and classes suck. but it will get me where i wanna be and i do love to see my friends. i may complain about it but if it wasn't for school when would i see my friends?
avril, i'll admit i liked her at frist. then she was on the radio again, and again, and again....... it just got annoying. another reason i dont like her is that she made the girls skater look main stream. every concert i go to there is at least 20 avril look-alikes.
i'm an underground/some main stream punk kinda guy. i'm into thrift store cloths and baggy pants. once in a while i can be caught at old navy or gap, but i stear clear of Abercrombie. my family isn't rich, but we have money, my sister is a "prep" Abercrombie is her favorite store. i dont have anything against those people, but i don't like to hang out with them. my kinda friends doesn't care about what people think of them and brand name clothes.

have you ever had the feeling that everyone is so fake? that's my outlook on the world. how people act, dress, talk, etc. is just a cover for them. they are just embarresed of where they came from. like those trashy people who think of themselves as "gangsta." do u honestly think that their parents are like that? no way! i don't see why people always have to do what other people think are "cool." this may seem wierd, but the kids in my school hate HP. that's just because they have never read it because they don't think its "cool." i don't know. people are so fake and i hate people sometimes for this.

I'd have to disagree, BB. I think people can be in two different groups if they want. As long as the way they are dressing is how they want and the clothes they like and they aren't doing it because it's whats in style.

To ben= You're one of those people!! Why?!
Well maybe some people wear what they do because they like the way it looks. Maybe they aren't trying to fit into a category. I mean, I own a pair of DC shoes because I thought they were really really comfortable. Does this all of a sudden mean that I'm a poser because I wear shoes designed for skateboarding's twists and turns? I mean, I also have a pair of NB running shoes. I try to avoid running at all costs so, does that mean I'm posing as a runner because of the shoes I wear? I'm sorry but, that just sounds so ridiculous to me! I mean yeah, some people are just trying to fit in but, is that so wrong? Maybe they're just trying different things while they look for something that's right for them. As far as Abercrombie is concerned, it's too rich for my blood. Also, since I don't dress up when I go to the mall, the people in there won't wait on me. Usually, when I go into a store I get sick of all the people asking "Can I help you?" I can be in that store for 15 minutes without ever beng waited on. My little sister really likes that store so, I've put up with their rudeness more than once and I just can't stand it! I also don't like being a human advertisement. I can't wear something that says "Abercrombie" all over the front or "Nike" either for that matter. I don't want to have to sell their clothes for them! I also don't care much for those shirts that are all sparkley and say stuff like "Fi fi's poodle parlor" and "Tiki beach" on the front. They just look like fake thrift store shirts. Except $20. Why not go to a thrift shop and get the same shirt from the REAL Tiki Beach for 50 cents?

QUOTE

Since when do you have to fit into a certain label. And where is it written that "You are what you wear".

I don't listen to top 40 stations (also known as pop) so I only hear Avril when I want to and when she's on music videos and stuff.
As for people copying her, so what!? I think it'd be cool if thousands of people wanted to be like me. I'd rather for them to be original though. And maybe it's not that the kids you se are Avril look alikes. maybe they're just girl skaters. You don't know. And why do you have to dress a certain way just because you like to skateboard. I know a girl who kills on the halfpipe and wipes the floor with the boys at skate parks and she's a cheerleader. She owns things from Abercrombie and Hurley and just wears what makes her most comfortable. You'd probably call her a poser if you'd never seen her skate. Wouldn't you? I mean, you don't know everyone so don't categorize everyone. (this is not me telling you what to do. I'm just suggesting.)

Come on, you can't say that school totally sucks. You've already said that your friends are there so there's something that doesn't suck, am I right?
Are you invlolved in anything at school? Speaking from experiance, every person I know with this outlook, with a few exceptions, are not invloved in any sort of extra curricular activity. Sports count if you like them but, if your parents make you or you just do it because it's something to do then, it doesn't. Find something you love and stick with it. Start a club. Join a club. Learn something new. School doesn't have to be a jail if you don't want it to be. I mean, yeah, last year I hated chemistry but I'd think that it be over in an Hour and a half and then I could have a blast in band. Give yourself something to look forward to! (It';s also a lot easier to get into college with a couple of clubs on your application. You can have fun and make life easier all at once!)

its not just a matter of how they dress its how two groups differ in how they think. how can you say that a person can be in two groups (lets say skater and prep) when skaters could care less what others think and preps are so concerned with their looks?

Okay, I don't think youget what I'm saying.
You categorize EVERYONE by what they wear!! I'm sorry but, that's really really shallow. How do you know that because someone wears some clothes from Hollister that they only care about how they look. If people who skated didn't care what people thought then they would wear whatever they wanted too instead of just the clothes classified as "skater" by you. I respect the people who wear both more because they obviously jsut wear what they like rather thatn the same genre of clothing over and over again.

sorry to double post but Quidditchstar05 posted while i was posting so i did not get it until after.
i am involved in many extra curriculars. football, baseball, soccer, weightlighting after school, spanish club, and asb. and i still hate classes and homework. homework has nothing to do with extra curricular stuff.

and i not saying if you own Dc shoes you are a poser. if you claim you can do it and hang out wiht the people who do because they think you can then you are a poser. or if you are trying to be somebody else to fit in, then yes that is wrong.

and back to avril, it would be cool if millions of people wanted to be me, its like that for all famous people, but it just gets annoying when everybody wears a wife beater, tie, converse shoes, and dickies. before her not many people wore that, maybe a few, but now a lot more are, so they are not just skater chicks they are copying her.

i wear what i like to wear. and i happen to be friends who wear what the same thing and are into the same things as me. i'm not trying to say if you wear Hollister you are only concerned with your looks but face it, 95% of the people who do wear it are. its like the label for the rich and preppy.

And a liar. But nobody could ever do that without being insane, Because then people would ask to see what they can do and then they would be up a creek without a paddle.

I really don't know about this skateboarding avril stuff- It seems to be the same as the Brittany- fake stuff. I mean half of Avril is the real thing, sure some parts of her look kinda manufactured-this is because what we see are the videos and the songs are being changed to suit consumer appeal.
Has anyone seen tha making of her videos? I have she wears her own clothes in them, so little makeup is used- she even drools over the cute guy in Skater boi-its so honest- and there is evidence to show she's just serious about her singing- now they're doing a Skater boi movie dry.gif - and she declined to act in it- she doesn't want anything to do with it- fans out there imitate her because they see a strong flawless person- the tweaked pics in mags, and on the television- I mean look at the Brittany wannabe's, limitless, they all want to have that perfect voice, the perfect figure, the perfect face
Lets take me instance, my dad is very old fashioned-and most of my wardrobe is very black- he even accused me of being pagan because I have a large silver triquetra pendant and as for "You are what you wear." I wear black..but its all skirts, really mature tops, jackets and jeans. I may look a little gloomy..but I still manage to be positive and head strong(gawd I love that song). Everyone knows appearnaces are not the real thing... the inside counts. My mum anyway is on my side she doesn't care what I wear..I agree with anything so long as it makes someone feel comfortable..unique and honest(as in to themselves, not like wearing the exact tube top just because Rachel Green the class blonde was wearing one yesterday and the guy you liked fainted when he saw her new grin.gif )
My best firends don't wear what I wear, some're more confined, some are really ugh - revealing but that's just they're self expression- I never look in fashion mags- never- its seems such a waste because I have similar tops and skirts and I don't need another one...and I know what suits me

I agree with you there qf05..I hate categories...absolutely..someone may look nice and decent but they can be sneaky and cheap....sort people out by their actions.

as for "school sucks"- don't be so negative- think about what you like in school and focus on that- don't worry about the grades- most of the geniuses of our time didn't go to school- they taught themselves or they dropped out- Albert Einstein had only 3 months of formal schooling and he was partially deaf, his mother taught him everything he knew!!
I just focus on the fact that I'm not alone in my endeavours, God is there, My mother is there, half of the teenage population is there, toiling with me....

I must say, I have never been in the presence of a more sensible group of people. smile.gif

Teenagers (and adults, too) must learn to not be so negative towards life. Everyone gets so caught up in their own lives, that when the tinyest thing goes wrong, they freak. It really doesn't matter; in a few years, you won't remember what so-and-so wore or how that girl bit off of your style. Some people (and yes B_B, you're one of them, too) just spend too much time trying to catagorize people, which is never a fair thing to do, escpecially by the clothes one wears, or the music they listen to. People change and people are always going to change. There's no point in catagorizing people, just like people for who they are.

I've never paid attention to MTV or teen magazines (well, except the horoscopes). I didn't even know who Avril was until revently. Maybe its just because I have an overactive imagination, but I hated music videos. I put images with certain songs, and I've imagined what singers look like from their music (avril looked a lot like christina a...). It didn't matter what they really look like, I listen to music to listen to it, not to become a clone of the singer.

I'v never understood why people hate school, but then again, I also can't understand how people can go to school and not challenge themselves. You have to go to school, there's no getting around it. Why can't people make the most of it? The majority of my school just go to their general level classes and sit. Of course school isn't fun! You're just sitting all day! My friends are all really smart, and we're all in the same classes. We have debates and discussions in class and teacher bashings, and we have a great time, even in our hardest classes.

People in general don't give themselves enough to look forward to. I personally give myself something to think of everyday, even if it's as simple as playing with my favorite booksock in chemistry. Think about seeing 'certain' people in the halls after each of your classes, or seeing that evil teacher so you can make funof how her hair is different colors in different spots ( w00t.gif ). Give yourself little things to hope for. I personally hoped everyday in my boring first period english class that the teacher would go to the bathroom with the microphone on just one more time. It didn't always happen (but it did happen a lot laugh.gif ) but it made my day better thinking that it could happen.
(oh my, I didn't expect four paragraphs to come out...)

wow, a lot of people disagree with me, this is new. I LIKE IT. new grin.gif
in response to chrissy i do give myself things to look forward to, i have sports and clubs, and i am in IB classes, i think i signed up for 5 out of 7 classes to be IB next year(if you dont know what that is it's honors classes, u get the extra GPA point) It's good that you do not become a clone of the singer cause that is a poser, trying to be somebody your not. i understand people will change, i know i have changed, but my personal style or the music i like does not change on a daily basis. i know what i like and i know who i am.

for sly_seeker15 yes we all know avril really cares about her singing and your right, it is the media who changes her with photo enhancements and all the make-up, but they may be able to change her looks but they can't change her personality.
QUOTE
not like wearing the exact tube top just because Rachel Green the class blonde was wearing one yesterday and the guy you liked fainted when he saw her.

i think this is the dumbest thing you can do. wear things because you want to, not because others do.

I dont fit everyone into a specific catagory, i'm saying if you wear hollister thats a rich preppy brand and DC shoes tend to be more geared towards skaters (but latly skate shoes have become very common, because they are so comfortable) I have had myself proven wrong a few times. I met a girl who was a cheerleader and i thought "dumb prep" then i got to know her and we had a lot in common and actually ended up dating. i got a lot of crap from my friends for that, until they got to know her too.

I am friends with many of the "popular people" cause i am involved in many sports with them. They can be fun to be around and are really nice people, most of the time. But many times they put others down cause they wear black, like sly_seeker15, or because they can't afford to buy Hollister(which happen to be most of my friends) this is why I would rather hang out with the skaters or the "un-cool" kids. they are definitly more down to earth and i can be myself around them. i dont have to worry about them making fun of other people because of how much money their parents make.

So i do categorize many people, but i have reason to back it up. i am friends with people from almost every "group" and i know that the reason they hang out is because they have things in common with eachother. Groups are categorized preps, jocks, skaters, goth, geeks and the reason for this is because of how they act and that they all hang out together and have things in common and this ends up with groups having their own style.

I know i am not the only person who does this, and i do give them a chance, i'm not going to no be friends with someone because of how they dress, but i bet i could have a real good guess at what kinds of person they are going to turn out to be once i do get to know them.

I always do things like that. I like to have something to look forward to, Little or big. I hate the line "Just trying to get through life." I hate that! Life is not something to get through!! What are you trying to get to, Anyway? Most people are afraid of death, And they are afraid of death because they don't believe in an afterlife. So what are they trying to get to?
